The quantification of the crystal chemistry of minerals through crystallographic studies is the fundamental basis for understanding the physical properties, thermodynamic stability and kinetics of reaction and transformation of minerals. Contributions on all aspects of the crystal chemistry and physics of minerals are encouraged, ranging from experimental techniques through data analysis to their crystal structures, their variation with temperature and pressure, and the relationship of crystal structures (and, in particular, ordering states) to mineral properties and reaction kinetics. This session honours the entire work and career of Chiara Domeneghetti who retired recently.
